Flower bloomed in space for the first time, NASA astronaut Scott Kelly shared an image of a blooming zinnia that grown in International Space Station. Kelly made the news public  on Saturday using her social media profile.

The team has managed to grow zinnia plant which is an edible plant. The team used LED’s of RED, BLUE & GREEN to produce conditions similar to sunlight. Zinnia plant is difficult to grow & it is considered as a great success to grow plant like it in space as these can be useful in future space projects like ‘MISSION MARS’.

NASA has history of growing lettuce in space. Lettuce has been produced in space under the experiments VEG1 programme. NASA announced Veggie project in 2014 to produce plants and flowers in space.
